On April 14, 2014 in Crestwell, Oregon, at around 4:30 AM, a man and woman were driving north on Interstate 5. As they drove underneath the East Oregon Ave. overpass in Crestwell, a cinder block crashed into the windshield of the car, sending the passenger to the hospital. The woman was treated for non-live threatening injuries.
Police are asking for any information about the person or people who were throwing cinder blocks off of the overpass. Witnesses report that a group of four people, two riding bicycles and two riding skateboards, were in the area at the time of the incident but it’s not clear if they were involved.
Were it not for the structural integrity of the windshield, the female passenger, and possibly also the driver, would have been seriously injured or killed in an incident such as this. This is just one more reason why it’s imperative to have your windshield repaired or replaced by a certified technician. Do-it-yourself kits and parking lot scams may seem easy and cost-effective, but they can negatively affect the strength of the windshield.
